As part of our continued dedication to bringing you the best quilting content out there, we’re pleased to bring you this 12-part series from one of our sister sites, McCall’s Quilting.
Here’s a fast and fun Urban Neighborhood bed quilt pattern, designed by Konda Luckau of Moose on the Porch Quilts as shown below in cool colors.
Our free pattern download is for the same quilt, but substitutes warm autumn colors of burgundy, tan and gold surrounding assorted pink, lime, green, teal, yellow and blue solid block centers. This modern looking quilt can easily be adapted to your own fabric choices. You might choose to use a charm pack from a single fabric collection for the block centers, adding coordinating solids for the subsequent block patches, strips, sashing and borders.
What fabric choices would YOU make for this quilt?
You’ll want to be sure you’re sewing with an accurate 1/4″ seam allowance so the patches and blocks fit together well – watch our free video lesson for a refresher before you begin.
Please refer to McCall’s Quick Quilts April/May 2011 for the pattern for Konda’s original coloration shown above. Back issues are sold out, but an instant digital download version is available at our Quilt and Sew Shop.
The free bed quilt pattern finishes at 78½˝ x 93½˝. Click here for the link to download the FREE pattern for the warm-color version of this Urban Neighborhood quilt.
