Sue is quilting our model for the log cabin quilt we made from the Chocolates & Creams 2 1/2″ Strip Collection™. This is a free pattern we’ll include when you buy one of the collections. There are some great color combinations, including some that would go with our music choice for the video! Next time we’ll show her working on the binding.

She’s using Aurifil™ invisible thread.

I just finished hand quilting a log cabin quilt that is abpproximately 70 years old and had been hand pieced by my grandmother. I have the bias strip cut for the binding and want to know if the binding needs to be sewn on by hand or can be machine sewn. Can someone give me an answer. I would appreciate any advice or help.

      Hi Marian,

How lucky you are to have your grandmother’s quilt! Lots of people machine stitch on the binding and then fold and hand-stitch in place, even if they’ve done the entire quilt by hand. Do it by hand or machine, it’s your choice and it will still be a wonderful quilt.
